The Swanmore Society meets at 8pm once a month in the church Hall (except for August and January). The Society is a registered charity and its constitution is:
The advancement of education among the inhabitants of Swanmore and the surrounding areas particularly in matters of the arts, theatre, drama and local history of the area of benefit,
To promote any charitable purpose for the benefit of the inhabitants of the area of benefit as the trustees shall from time to time determine.
There are approximately 60 members and our speakers talk for about an hour on various topics (such as the banking crisis, the Hants and IOW Wildlife Trust, Conan Doyle in Portsmouth and Changes to the NHS). We have a social event in January and the Society is affiliated to the Hampshire Archive trust and the Hampshire Field Club & Archaeological Society.
To cover costs donations of at least £6 per annum are invited. Non-members are invited to donate at least £2.
